Any candidate in a race within our scope can request consideration. The board announces the procedure and the deadline in advance.
Endorsements
In May 2026 we held our first endorsement meeting. Nine candidates earned the club's endorsement. In June, eight of them advanced to the November ballot.

How the slate did
Supervisor Katrina Foley's District 5 seat was decided by a narrow margin in the primary, and it is the club's number one priority this fall. If you want your time to matter more than anywhere else on the map, that's the race.
No smoke-filled rooms
How our process works
It is written into our bylaws, and it is deliberately boring — which is the point.

Equal time
At the endorsement meeting every eligible candidate gets the same speaking time and the same access to member questions.

Members vote
Not the board. Members vote, and a candidate needs a genuine majority — "no endorsement" is always on the ballot.

Conflicts step aside
No board member who works for or with a campaign may preside over that race. Our president recused himself from CA-40 for exactly this reason.
Running for something?
Our second endorsement round is planned for late summer, covering November races — city councils, school boards, water districts and community college boards. Candidate filing for November opened July 14. Get in touch and we'll send you the procedure and the deadline as soon as the board sets them.
