Who gets to be a member
At our July meeting the body classified the question of the club's geographic reach as a matter for bylaw amendment. The August meeting ran out of time before it reached the floor, and the board has since set it aside for a meeting where enough members can be in the room for the vote to count. Members will get proper notice before it comes back. The proposal is narrower than the map debate that produced it: it amends Article II, Section 1 so that membership is open to people living in or with a meaningful connection to South Orange County. The boundary in Article II, Section 2 does not move, and endorsements stay scoped to South Orange County under Article X.
Under Article IX, a proposal must be submitted in writing to the President and Secretary at least fourteen days beforehand, and adoption requires three-quarters of the Executive Board including the advisor, two-thirds of the general body, and at least half the membership present.
